Listening to God

To my laptop I go with coffee in hand.

It has been so long since I have written a post like this.

God has been flashing my Put on the Whole Armor Page for weeks now. On Face Book One of those Memory posts that I wrote back in 2017 popped up on my time line and it was like WoW! Got the message! It read:

Isn't it how amazing just how God talks to us! I was just telling a couple of my children the other day how I had been praying over a situation for a long time now and then asked God if it was meant to be like the words whispered to me last fall to follow through with the ideal, or if it was to stop then to close the door immediately! After I had prayed that, it was like God smacked me in the head. One of the things spoken was, "Child I have shown you slowly different things to prove I am with you, why should I let you prosper over this situation when your faith has not wholeheartedly believed in me that I can make it happen!" I got the message loud and clear, and to confirm it was when at the end of Grace and Faith Bible Church of Woodland parks service, he spoke about the Holy Spirit talking to someone and it was like fish or cut bait. I got the message loud and clear Lord!!!

Wow it is amazing how we sometimes don’t get when God is speaking to us! We blame Him for not answering when He in fact had been trying to answer us the whole time but we are to busy in our Worldly ways to give Him time!

There is a song, sang by AJ Michalka and in this song it says, "Truth be told I've made this world my home. I let it steal my soul but now I want it back."

How many times do we ask God for things and expect an answer without taking time to pray or giving time to even talk with Him. Yes! I talk with Him! I actually sit down and write letters to Him as if I am writing to an old friend. I ask God how His day is going and that I am sorry for all the time I had been giving to the world instead listening to what He was trying to tell me.

I would write letters everyday. One day I started to skip a day. So you know what happened next right? Yep, eventually a day turned into days and then days turned into weeks, then months and finally I had stopped writing letters.

Just like prayer, if we skip one day we will eventually stop praying altogether but still expect without giving back. Tell me why should we get the desires of our hearts if we can't even spare five minutes of time with God. Prayer is important, it isn't a bunch of mumble jumble words, it is communication with our Father in Heaven. God does answer at His time and not ours. It is time to stay quiet for just a little while and think about thoughts, memories, etc. You might just realize that all those times you asked, He was answering all along, but you chose not to seek or take time to listen.

1 John 5:14-15 New Living Translation 14 And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

John 15:7 ESV

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

James 4:3 ESV

You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.

Hebrews 11:6 ESV

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

The Bible tells of God and answers in many verses. Take time out and seek Him, listen closely and know that He is always near.

Good Day everyone!
